Melon Sandbox mods not working

Last checked 2026-10-29 · melon sandbox mods not working

I lined up the community FAQ with the Mods and Saves pages. They agree on the order: confirm the import, confirm the file kind, look in the right category, update, restart, then use safe mode if a file crashes the game. None of that text appears on melonsandbox.com.

Check in this order

  1. Did the share sheet or File Manager actually finish? Add and Exit on iOS restarts the app. Android copy-to-mods should leave the file in the mod list.
  2. Is the extension .melmod or .melsave? Mixing them up hides the item.
  3. Are you in the right category (Mods versus Saves, or a living versus a tool)?
  4. Is the game on the current store build (iOS 38.666.2, Android 38.666 as of 29 Oct 2026)?
  5. Restart the app once.
  6. If the game will not boot, open safe mode and remove the last file you added.
Still from the official Melon Sandbox Workshop tutorial video
Official Workshop tutorial still. Workshop is a separate install path; a failed file import does not prove that an equivalent Workshop item exists or should be purchased.
Melon Sandbox gameplay on the official site, gray build grid with ragdoll characters
Official site gameplay still, used here so the page is not only text.
The Mods overview separates the Playhop import limitation reported by one third-party guide from the official-site browser client, whose file-import behavior is not established here. These mobile steps are not verified browser instructions.

Questions people ask

Why did my mod vanish after an update?

The reviewed sources do not establish one cause or provide a publisher compatibility chart. Check import completion, file type, category, and whether the creator supplies a compatible update. Reports of lost achievement progress do not prove that a mod was deleted or became incompatible.

I imported a file and the category is empty.

A .melsave is a scene, not an item. A .melmod is an item or character. Looking in the wrong tab is the mismatch the wiki calls out most often.

Is there an error code?

I did not find one on the official site, App Store, or Google Play. The checklist on this page is the community FAQ order, not a publisher diagnostic.
