To play with friends, use the built-in Multiplayer tab, create a room, then share its server code; friends choose connect via code. That sequence comes from the linked 18 Sep 2026 player demonstration. Community version pages place its launch at 38.0; browser parity and cross-platform joining are not established here.

Create or join

  1. Update to 38.x. Players still on 37.1 were asking how to unlock multiplayer because that version did not have it.
  2. Open the Multiplayer tab and create a server.
  3. Pick a map. Leave the room private, or set it public.
  4. Share the server code. Your friend chooses connect via code and joins.

Official multiplayer is not a multiplayer mod

Videos from 2023 through early 2025 that say "multiplayer mod" are about something else. Version 38.0 is the built-in mode. If a guide tells you to install a mod menu for multiplayer, skip it.

When the room fails

  • Version 37.x predates the documented mode. Use the store update path on both devices; being on 38.x does not itself establish compatible builds or cross-play.
  • As generic connection checks, compare the shared code with the room's current code and confirm both devices have a working network. These checks are not publisher-documented fixes or a promise that the room will connect.
  • I found no official list of region, timeout, or cross-play rules. If the code is rejected, I cannot point to an error number.
  • 38.0 also added emotes, Melon Boost, and a prop cap that changes with the player count. Those are wiki notes, not store-listing text.

Questions people ask

Is multiplayer out?

Yes. Version 38.0 added it on 11 Sep 2026 for Android and 12 Sep 2026 for iOS, according to the community version pages. Do not follow older videos that talk about a multiplayer mod.

How many players?

ComboCaster and Gamers & Games both reported a four-person cap on one map. They may reflect the same announcement, so two outlets are not proof of two independent tests. No publisher patch note confirming the cap is cited here.

Does the browser have multiplayer?

One outlet said iOS, Android, and browser. I could not confirm feature parity or cross-play between phone and web. That cell stays blank.

What is Build Mode?

Version 38.5 on 8 Oct 2026 added multiplayer Build Mode, according to the community version page. I do not have a separate official changelog page.
