I read the footer on melonsandbox.com, which says formerly Melon Playground, and the community history page. Apple Lookup gives the iOS release date as 14 Apr 2022. The wiki dates the first Android release to 27 Aug 2021. The publisher's Poppy news post only says launched in 2021, which matches the year, not the day.

Timeline I can actually source

  • 27 Aug 2021: first Android release, community wiki. The news post agrees on 2021.
  • 14 Apr 2022: iOS release date from Apple Lookup.
  • Late 2022: wiki says the Play listing was removed, then returned as 13.2023.
  • 2023: wiki says version 15.1.100 renamed the game to Melon Sandbox. No official day.
  • August 2023: short-lived Melon PG label on Android, third-party report.
  • 15 Mar 2024 removed and 6 Apr 2024 restored, community wiki only.

PC searches for Melon Playground hit the same wall as Melon Sandbox: no Steam app. Use the PC page. Mod steps moved forward with Workshop in 2023, so a 2021 APK guide is not the current install path.

Questions people ask

Is Melon Sandbox a sequel?

No. The official footer calls the site Melon Sandbox, formerly Melon Playground. Guides written under the old name still describe this game, but version numbers have moved on.

When did the name change?

The community wiki places the rename at version 15.1.100 in 2023. I did not find a publisher post with a calendar date, so I am not printing a day.

What was Melon PG?

In August 2023 the Android listing briefly showed Melon PG. A third-party report said the developer called it temporary. It is not a third game.
